Mineral makeup: Sheer Cover vs. Bare Minerals - Part 2

I was instantly attracted to the concept of Mineral Based makeup after viewing a late night info-mercial by Bare Minerals. Even still it took me several months to actually try the product. My skin is very dry and I suffer from allergic eczema. There are periods of time that parts of my face become dry and scaly looking. This condition had made wearing makeup extremely difficult. So I decided to order Bare Minerals. Once it arrived in the mail, I watched the DVD and read the instructions and tips that came with the product. One use and I was hooked. It is so easy to apply just like the commercials say.

It has been a real find for me. Nothing that I bought in the stores or from cosmetic dealers was working. Bare Minerals has not healed my skin condition, but even during a flare up I can wear my makeup and hide at least some of it. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone. Try it you will love it, and if not it comes with a money back guarantee.

After using Bare Minerals for several months, I decided to try Sheer Cover. It seemed to work just as good on television and was slightly less expensive. When this product arrived I read the instructions and started to use the product. The first thing that I noticed was the color did not blend well and I looked like I had an orange residue on my face. I tried to mix the two colors like the instructions recommended, but did not get much better results. The next thing that I noticed was the product did not adhere very well. The other products that came with the foundation did work very well. I loved the lip gloss, and eye shadows, but I really did not care for the foundation.

I recommend that anyone that is currently using traditional store bought cosmetics try one of these products. As noted above I prefer the Bare Minerals, but some may find the Sheer Cover works better for them. Either choice will be better for your skin than the cosmetics that are full preservatives and other chemicals.

Mineral makeup: Sheer Cover vs. Bare Minerals

Which is the Better Deal - Sheer Cover or Bare Minerals?
Mineral cosmetics are the closest we can get to natural cosmetics in the cosmetics industry. According to Natural HealthnBeauty.com (www.naturalhealthnbeauty.com) "there is no such thing as pure 100% natural cosmetics, however mineral cosmetics come close."
Sheer Cover and Bare Minerals (bareMinerals is the company spelling) are two mineral cosmetics on the market today that offer this close to natural mineral makeup.
They are both similar so it is a little hard to choose between them and the best way to find out which to choose is to try them.
They are both preservative, oil, fragrance, and talc free. They both contain Zinc Oxide, which is soothing and healing to damaged skin. Sheer Cover is 12% Zinc Oxide and bareMinerals doesn't give the percentage of Zinc Oxide. Sheer Cover contains Green Rooibos Tea, which is not listed as one of the ingredients in bareMinerals. Rooibos Tea is an anti-aging ingredient.
Bare Minerals contains the following ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Mica, Iron Oxide, Bismuth Oxychloride, and natural SPF 15. Sheer Cover also contains Mica and natural SPF 15.
Bare Minerals was the first pure minerals makeup on the market. Many other companies have joined the mineral makeup "revolution" in an effort to market a more natural makeup.
The first bareMinerals store was opened in Los Gatos, California and introduced by Bare Escentuals in 1976. Bare Minerals is located at (www.bareminerals.com) and its slogan is "makeup so pure you sleep in it." Sheer Cover is located at (www.sheercover.com).
They both offer an Introductory Kit however the Sheer Cover Kit is cheaper than bareMinerals.
The Sheer Cover Kit is $29.95 plus shipping and handling, but the bareMinerals Kit is 2 payments of $29.99 or $59.95 plus S & H (a 209.95 value). So the marketing of the products is quite different.
With the Sheer Cover Intro Kit you get mineral foundation with SPF 15 in 2 shades, Duo Concealer in 2 shades, Nourishing Moisturizer with SPF 15, Conditioning Cleanser, a Studio Powder Brush, a Studio All-in-One brush.
The Sheer Cover free bonuses include the Studio Concealer Brush, the Studio Contouring Brush, an Extra Length Mascara in Black/Brown, the Sheer color Compact, the Tips and Tricks DVD and a 6 day supply Bronze Lip-to-Lid Highlighter.
Bare Minerals in its Intro Kit offers 2 shades of bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation, Mineral Veil Finishing Powder Warmth All-Over Face Color, the Flawless Application Face Brush, the Handy Buki Brush, the Maximum Concealer Brush, and an In-depth How-to Guide that details every product and how to best apply bareMinerals.
Bare Minerals free gifts include 100% pure bareMinerals eyeshadow - Well-Rested for Eyes, the Double-ended Seamless Blending Brush, 100% bareMinerals Clear Radiance All-Over Face Color, and the How to DVD.
So you can choose for yourself which is the better deal.
Bare Minerals offers SPF 15 "broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection" and carries the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation.
To find stores that sell bareMinerals go to (www.bareminerals.com). To find stores that sell Sheer Cover go to (www.sheercover.com). Or go to google and write in Sheer Cover or Bare Minerals. You will find plenty of stores that sell both Sheer Cover and Bare Minerals.

Mineral makeup: Sheer Cover vs. Bare Minerals - Part 1

I was very skeptical about using minerals of any kind because I questioned how much coverage you can really get. Surprisingly, minerals feel really light on your skin. Yes, it really is like you're not wearing anything at all. Also, it blends very well into your neckline so no mask. Don't believe those "mineral hater" advertisements that act like you get the powder everywhere. It's very easy to keep it neat.
So which is better? I love the Bare Minerals brushes and color selections over the Sheer Cover. However, Sheer Cover gives you this great cream cover up that you literally dab lightly on your blemish and then apply the powder as you normally would. It's a perfect cover up. The Bare Minerals lasts much longer as you don't need as much to get the job done. My kit lasted me over two months before I had to get another one and I used it every day. Once applied, you can add a touch up if you're going out at night but I rarely had to do even that.
Bare Mineral
I also love the eye shadows offered with Bare Minerals. Don't bother with the mascara though. I still think Maybelline makes the best mascara and it's so affordable.

So my favorite is Bare Minerals but I always keep the Sheer Cover cream cover up handy. I'm surprised Bare Minerals hasn't come out with anything similar yet but I'm sure it's not to far away.
